The Kaabil team attended a webinar on Women’s Workforce Participation, based on findings from the Young FICCI Ladies Organisation (YFLO)–Vedica For Women–Nikore Associates report.
The session helped us understand why many educated women are still not able to join or continue working, even in big cities like Delhi.
One key learning was that women’s low participation in work is not mainly due to personal preferences. Instead, it is because of system-level challenges such as fewer job entry and re-entry opportunities, responsibility of unpaid care at home, and workplaces that do not offer flexible options.
An important insight from the webinar was that families are often supportive of their women pursuing a job. However, women still face challenges such as distance/commute to the job & mobility options, access to skilling, and shortage of safe and affordable care facilities. The session also highlighted that having a job does not always transpire towards financial independence for women.
Overall, the webinar clearly showed the need for employers, government, and institutions to work together to create a better end-to-end ecosystem. These insights are highly relevant for Kaabil’s role in helping young job seekers build skills, find opportunities, and sustain meaningful careers.
